Professional Pathways Australia is delighted to announce the launch of our new Internship/Traineeship program in USA. The primary objective of the Intern/Trainee Program is to enhance the skills and expertise of exchange visitors in their academic or occupational fields through participation in structured and guided work-based training and internship programs and to improve their knowledge of American techniques, methodologies, and expertise.

Eligibility

Intern must either
  • Australian or NZ citizen ( other nationalities might be considered under special circumstances).
  • Be enrolled in and pursuing studies in a degree- or certificate-granting post-secondary institution outside the United States OR
  • Have graduated from such an institution no more than 12 months prior to their prospective program start date.

INTERN: Programs can last up to 12 months. They can be as short as 3 months, though the shorter the program, the more difficult the placement (as a general rule).

Trainee must either:
  • Australian or NZ citizen ( other nationalities might be considered under special circumstances).
  • Have either a degree or professional certificate from a foreign post-secondary academic institution AND at least one year of prior related work experience acquired outside the United States OR
  • Have at least five years of work experience outside of the United State in their occupational field.

TRAINEE: Programs can last up to 18 months, with the exception of training programs in hospitality/tourism, which are limited to 12 months.

How does it work

Every week we update the open positions listed on our website. The student applies for a position by sending his CV and Cover letter to us. We contact the host company and if they are interested in the candidate we arrange an interview. If the interview is successful, we will organise the paper work such as the training plan and the DS-2019 form that the student will need for the J-1 visa application. As soon as the DS form is issued, student applies for the J-1 visa and arranges the travel to US.

Duration

Internships: from 3 - 12 months
Traineeships: from 3-18 months
Internships/Traineeships vary from 32-40 hours a week on average.

The program includes

  • Detailed participant handbook that contains all information relative to the program
  • One month to travel within the USA after the training placement has been completed

Visa

  • Unpaid Trainee/Intern placements and Paid Hospitality/Tourism placements
    3 - 4 months: US$ 1,450
    5 - 6 months: US$ 1,650
    7 - 12 months: US$ 2,050
    13 - 18 months: US$ 2,350
  • Paid Trainee/Intern placements (except Hospitality/Tourism)  
    3 - 4 months: US$ 2,050
    5 - 6 months: US$ 2,350
    7 - 12 months: US$ 3,350
    13 - 18 months: US$ 3,750
