Process

With offices in the central business districts of Melbourne and Sydney, we are able to extend our support to students and recent graduates in achieving their work and life aspirations. Comprehensive networks and partner programs across Australia, as well as strong associations with leading universities in the capital cities, enable us to facilitate connections between candidates and Australian companies.

When placing an intern in your company we follow the eight step process outlined below.

1 Host Company partnership established

Professional Pathways Australia and the Host Company develop partnership and determine criteria for interns; basic Training Plan/ Job Description; and potential start/ finish dates as related to the industry and potential internship candidates.

2 Potential internship applicants screened

A Professional Pathways Australia placement consultant screens all possible internship applicants against the criteria provided by your organisation to determine ‘best fit’.
3 Host Company contacted regarding possible intern

A placement consultant from Professional Pathways Australia will contact your organisation with the CV of a suitable candidate. If the candidate is of interest, the placement consultant can arrange an interview for you and the candidate to meet to discuss the potential internship.
4 Training Plan/ Job Description refined

Once the decision has been made to accept the intern into your company we work with you in refining the Training Plan/ Job Description. This assists in setting the tasks and managing expectations for the completion of a successful internship for both the intern and your company.
5 Confirmation of internship

A confirmation document outlining the scope of the internship and the Terms and Conditions of the placement is signed by both the intern and host company to formalise the arrangement.
6 Confirmation of commencement date

One week before the placement is due to begin your Professional Pathways Australia placement consultant will confirm with you your intern’s start date and arrival time.
7 Monitoring commences

Within the first month the Placement Consultant will visit you and the intern to check on how things are going.   Also within the first month we forward you an online appraisal to ascertain how the internship is going. At any time the Placement Consultant can be contacted when you require any support or guidance in relation to the internship.
8 Reference & program feedback

The Host Company provides a reference/ statement of completion as validation of their time with the company and detailing specific details pertaining to the role performed and the skills displayed. At the completion of the internship, we ask you to complete a final online appraisal to help assist in improving future internships within your organisation.
