Graphic Design internship
I’ve definitely learnt heaps with the tasks provided to me! Before the internship I was able to work with computer programmes like Photoshop, but I’d say, during this internship I learnt the professional way of really working with it in an efficient, fast and skilful way. In addition to that there is the fact that I’ve got an insight into a working area that was really new to me. I had no experiences with digital design campaigns, web design etc and now I can say that I got an understanding for building websites, email marketing projects, working with clients etc. Another thing is all the technical terms I’ve learnt - and also in English! My English is still expandable but I’d say it’s definitely become better. I can not tell how happy I am having done this internship in exactly this company!

Education
First, I have learned a great deal about international students and the plethora of issues they face when studying in a foreign country. There are so many things to consider beyond just the language barrier (and even that is a large communication issue for both the student and the student affairs professionals working with them). I've learned quite a bit about student visas, regulations, issues regarding fair-trading, etc. But, I've also learned about many different cultures by interacting with these students on a daily basis.
Second, I've learned a great deal about working in an Australian higher education environment. Sydney is such a diverse place, and that was definitely reflected in my office environment. It was overwhelming at first, but I grew to really appreciate how different it was from where I come from back in the USA.
Finally, I've learned the most about myself during these past couple of months. I've learned that I am more confident that I originally thought I was, and that I should embrace that confidence and use it. I've learned that I can adapt to a foreign environment, even though it's initially quite challenging. I have also learned that I need to continue to stand up for myself and for what I believe in. I am extremely appreciative for these past few months in my internship, and in Australia in general. Australia is a place that is so far away from my home that I once thought I may never come here. I have learned so much about others and about myself. I'm sure that I've learned more than I realize, and that it will take some time for this all to sink in. I'm looking forward to taking what I've learned and applying it to my Master's program back home.

My internship was free flowing. From the beginning, my supervisor and I knew that my internship would unfold as I went along. I was able to work in 3 different departments, and I learned a variety of things while working on a number of different tasks. Overall, it was more than what I expected. I have learned a lot about the functioning of a university in general, and how it differs from a university in the USA. I learned administrative tasks such as Microsoft Project, and how to go through the chain of command to get things approved, and much more. The internship program was great, and I hope PPA continues to work with this University in the future. I was very much well taken care of by my supervisor and co-workers while here.

I did many different competitor analysis for the company! But I also had to search a new database of companies, to analyse the host companies in the accounting field to check why they are receptive to interns... The thing that I've really appreciated is that there is a good team environment: everybody is working with each other and they are ready to help you or answer you question at any time. It's easier to fit in.
It was nice to meet people from overseas and to be able to discover another workplace culture. This internship enables me to be less shy and more confident: it has been the best experience of my life! Australians are really nice people: they are always kind and ready to help you even if you don't ask them! And Australia is really a beautiful country: there is plenty to do and discover everywhere!
