Eligibility

To qualify you need…

The ACS Professional Year and SMIPA programs have been designed, under Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) guidelines, principally for international students seeking to gain employment in their field of study. In addition to this, addtional migration points towards permanent residence will be awarded to successful graduates of the program. Therefore, to qualify for one of these programs you must be have undertaken study in Australia and graduated from an undergraduate or post graduate degree program. In addition, to qualify you need to satisfy each of the requirements below.

* Please note that all applicants will be interviewed by Professional Pathways Australia prior to being accepted into the program. The interview is undertaken to ascertain your suitability for the program (part of which is oral communication).

^ For PY – Australian Computer Society; for SMIPA - CPA, NIA or ICAA.

Study & qualifications Graduated from a course that appropriately matches the Professional Year program to which you want to apply; have completed a Higher Education program in Australia, in a course that provides two years credit points over a minimum of 18 months.
Visa Applicants must hold, or have applied for the subclass 485 Temporary Residence visa. They can be on the Bridging visa. The 485 visa must have been applied for within 6 months of graduation.
Language proficiency Have a minimum overall IELTS test score of 6.0 and nothing less than 6 in each band*
Documents Have an official letter of Skills Assessment from the relevant professional body^.
