chileAn internship program in Chile will provide you with a fantastic opportunity to acquire work experience in a chosen field, whilst improving a foreign language in a country of contrasts. The experience will not only prepare you for your future career, but will enable you to combine an internship with a range of activities such as hiking, mountain climbing, rafting, surfing, and skiing. You will be placed in a Chilean organisation in a position related to their field of study. This is a customised program allowing you to select the start date, length and industry of placement.

The number of internship placements is not limited and most internship fields are available.

Duration

Internships range from 8 - 52 weeks and are unpaid.You will be expected to work five days per week, no more than 6 hours per day according to each project and become an important part of the host company team.

The program includes:

  • pre-arranged internship placement in your preferred industry 
  • ongoing monitoring and support from our partner in Chile
  • 24 - hour telephone number to assist you with personal, social, legal or other issues that may arise during your stay in Chile
  • detailed participant manual, containing relevant information
  • Spanish courses in preparation for your internship (optional)
  • accommodation during your stay (optional)
  • social activities and travel tours with other participants
  • health and accident insurance in Chile (optional)
  • Certificate of participation upon program completion 
  • Reference Letter from your host company upon internship completion.  

Eligibility

You must be aged 18 years or over and have completed a minimum of one year’s study or work experience in a relevant field. You are required to have an intermediate level of Spanish language skills, be open minded, flexible and a "team player". Professional Pathways Australia can help arrange a Spanish language course in Santiago de Chile prior to the internship if necessary.

About Santiago de Chile

Internships are located in Santiago de Chile; the capital as well as economical, political and cultural centre of Chile. With the Andes glimmering in the distance, Santiago is located in central Chile surrounded by beaches, vineyards and world-class ski resorts. The city offers a number of scenic, cultural and historical attractions as well as a pleasing choice of museums, markets, restaurants and nightspots.

Santiago has a mild Mediterranean climate with relatively hot dry summers, fall and spring with cool, pleasant breezes and short winters with low temperatures, only occasionally dipping below 0ºC.
