About Sydney

Sydney is the oldest and largest city in Australia and for many one of the most beautiful and multicultural cities in the world. The fact is that with a population of 4.5 millions a third of Sydneysiders are born overseas.  The diverse mix of indigenous, European and Asian influences gives Sydney a vibrant and distinctive character, which can be seen in a dynamic arts and cultural scene around the city.

Settled in 1788 by the British soldiers and convicts who came as part of the First Fleet, Sydney has since developed into a prosperous and exciting city spread around some of the world’s most beautiful real estate - Sydney Harbour.

With the iconic Opera house and the Harbour Bridge which made Sydney easy recognisable in the world, the city is often referred to as “the Harbour City”. Built on hills surrounding the harbour, it’s alive with ferries, yachts, cruise ships and kayaks and home to the famous New Year’s Eve fireworks each year.

The stunning sandy beaches, parks and gardens along with magnificent mountains, national parks and wine regions just outside the city make Sydney indeed a place like no other. From Bondi Beach, Royal Botanical Gardens, Blue Mountains, Taronga Zoo to Sydney Tower, the Art Gallery of New South Wales and the Aquarium in Darling Harbour to just mention view, Sydney has a great deal to offer.

Sydneysiders are well known for their relaxed lifestyle and love of the great outdoors which has a lot to do with Sydney’s mild climate.

No matter how long or short your stay in Sydney is, the culture diversity, historical traditions, endless attractions and the laid-back “no worries” attitude will create an unforgettable and enriching experience for everyone.
